Sorry to hear that Miss; I do cringe, only because I know Rob mentioned his absence in relation to viral particles and some such...I'll just assume the worst case scenario was he was practicing his limo driving and decided to drop by and make sure he knew just where to pick you up when the Prom Date finally comes round. You never should've opened the door, or at least should've made him put one of those masks on...

I do appreciate that you can always bring our man of fine writing skills out from behind the storyline!

Sorry to hear that, Miss D. I was going to start a 'February is the kindest month' thread after finding TDIH full of gems from '69, '73, and '74 yet again today. But if you're looking for a pick-me-up after your November listening today's '69 show will put your bedroom furniture in the same peril as SDH's chairs.

Interesting choice...
That was one of the shows I put on the MP3 player when going into the hospital for one of my hip surgeries. It has true soothing and healing powers.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

I went with this one just yesterday.

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1973-11-21.sbd.miller.88612.sbeok.flac16

One [1:25:00] ; Me And My Uncle [2:59] ; Sugaree [7:04] ; Jack Straw [4:45] ; Dire Wolf [4:00] ; Black Throated Wind [6:20] ; Big Railroad Blues [4:29] ; Mexican Hat Dance Tuning [0:27] ; Mexicali Blues [3:14] ; They Love Each Other [4:#49] ; Looks Like Rain [7:01] ; Here Comes Sunshine [10:26] ; Big River [4:45] ; Brokedown Palace [5:26] ; Weather Report Suite Prelude [1:08] > Weather Report Suite Part 1 [4:19] > Let It Grow [8:#26]
Two [1:28:00] ; Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo [7:35] > Playing In The Band [11:54] > El Paso [3:42] > Playing In The Band [1:00] > Wharf Rat Jam [0:05] > Dark Star Jam [3:25] > Wharf Rat [7:52] > Playing In The Band [13:10] > Morning Dew [12:05] ; Truckin' [8:22] > Nobody's Fault But Mine [4:44] > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad [7:57] > One More Saturday Night [4:41]
Encore Uncle John's Band [7:20]

Also seems to have everything you're looking for: BTW to skip, HCS and WRS>LIG in the first set and some interesting transitions in the second set. I don't recall hearing any other PITBs that come out of another song during this time period and it interesting to hear the direction changes coming out of PITB as it really sounds for a few seconds like its Wharf Rat, but no it becomes Dark Star, only to morph back into Wharf Rat.

Hope you feel better.

Put me down at the top of the list...BLEECH.

Here's one that is as good as any in terms of beating this DEAD horse.

How about you? Where do you stand on this matter of extreme importance?

LOL. I'll have to read that thread a bit later, too busy this afternoon. I don't feel strongly about BTW, but it's grown on me. I think it's a decent song. I think this is more anti-Bobby prejudice ...

Definitely not anti-Bobby in my case. The song just doesn't do much for me. Bobby songs that era (or earlier) that do work for me. I am sure I am forgetting a few, just doing this off the top of my head:

PITB
WRS>LIG
TOO
Jack Straw (originally just Bob singing but better with Jerry playing the part of Shannon)
Truckin'
Sugar Magnolia
Mexicali (what's wrong with a little polka now and again?)

Bobby covers that work:
El Paso
Some Dark Hollow (acoustic and electric perfection)
Minglewood (listen to him roar on 4-29-71!)
MAMU (actually i like the song, it was overplayed)
BIODTL
Big River (ditto the MAMU issue)
The Promised Land (ditto)

Not so much:
BTW
LLR (i think i like this one better than BTW, the lyrics get sappy but the music is good)
Around and Around

Yep; I with Miss D (as always of course) in that I think it's a good (bad) example of the poor end of the Barlow/Weir writing attempts with a bit too much over the top sentimentality, etc., etc. Completely biased, of course, by my love for the more esoteric/cerebral Hunter style, but think B&W have some others that are much better.

oh then you just mean the lyrics? I guess so; not sure I've really even listened to them, something about you're not the woman I once thought I met blah blah.

I don't want to speak for others IMO the song did not age gracefully. It sounds dated. I listen sometimes although I skipped it yesterday

The RatDog versions with a sax player are a major improvement over the GD version.

personally I find it one of my favorite Bobby tunes right behind Playin'.

It is sure better than getting whacked by Picaso Moon!

Elbow and I were talking a couple of weeks back about just how wonderful November 73 is. I can really recommend spending some time with this one:

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1973-11-14.sbd.miller.79049.flac16

Amongst many highlights there's a beautiful Here Comes Sunshine (some would say the best) and the second set The Other One >Big River > The Other One >Eyes Of The World >The Other One >Wharf Rat suite is simply magisterial. Oh yes, and there's a BTW for you to have fun skipping.

Get well soon!
